BEHIND THE SCENES
DECEMBER 4, 2005

CHURCH FRONTAGE
VESTRY HAS INVITED INPUT FROM VARIOUS SOURCES AS TO HOW WE MIGHT IMPROVE THE FRONT OF THE CHURCH SO IT MIGHT BE A LITTLE MORE EYE CATCHING TO THE HUNDREDS (OR THOUSANDS) OF CARS THAT PASS US BY EVERY WEEK DAY. WE ARE TAKING BOTH A SHORT TERM (CHRISTMAS) AND LONG TERM APPROACH. IF YOU HAVE A TALENT OR AN INTEREST IN BEING PART OF THIS, PLEASE LET ANY VESTRY MEMBER, FATHER BILL OR THE CHURCH OFFICE KNOW. DENNIS PANG HAS GRACIOUSLY OFFERED TO DO SOME LIGHTING FOR THE CHRISTMAS HOLIDAYS. LOOK FOR IT!!

PARISH RECLAMATION - HKAW
MANY OF YOU MET JONATHAN LAI ON NOVEMBER 19TH. JONATHAN IS A FINE ATTORNEY WITH THE WATANABE FIRM AND HE REPRESENTS ST. PETER’S IN MATTERS RELATING TO LEASES AND RENTALS. THE LORD MUST HAVE BEEN THINKING ABOUT ST. PETER’S (AGAIN) BECAUSE JONATHAN MAKES HIS TIME AND ENERGY A GIFT TO ST. PETER’S AND TO GOD. HE ATTENDS ANOTHER CHURCH REGULARLY, IS MARRIED WITH TWO YOUNG CHILDREN AT HOME. STILL, HE TOOK THE TIME TO SPEND A SUNDAY MORNING AMONGST US TO INSURE THAT ANY QUESTIONS REGARDING HKAW WERE ANSWERED. IF YOU RUN INTO JONATHAN, TAKE A MOMENT AND THANK HIM. WE HAVE BEEN SO FORTUNATE TO HAVE SO MANY COME TO HELP US. WE HOPE YOU WILL BE NEXT!!
HKAW HAS ASKED FOR A SECOND EXTENSION. THIS ONE IS FOR THIRTY DAYS ENDING JANUARY 31, 2006 TO HELP EASE THEIR MOVE TO A NEW FACILITY OVER THE HOLIDAYS. THIS IS A CONSIDERATION PENDING A SIGNED AGREEMENT THAT HKAW WILL HONOR THIS VACATE DATE TO INSURE ST. PETER’S CAN BEGIN THE PROCESS THAT WILL ENABLE US TO DO GOD’S WORK.
WE CONTINUE TO BE ON TRACK WITH THE ELEVATOR INSTALLATION AND CANNOT FURTHER DELAY THE CLEARING OF THE PARISH HALL. A CONTRACTOR HAS BEEN HIRED, THE BUILDING PERMIT WILL BE IN HAND, THE REQUEST FOR POWER FROM HECO COMPLETED AND WE ARE ON OUR WAY!!!
SOON A SURVEY WILL BE CIRCULATING ASKING YOU FOR INPUT ON WHAT YOU WOULD LIKE TO SEE THE PARISH HALL BECOME IN THE FUTURE. SMALL GROUPS WILL BE FORMED SO THAT WE CAN PROVIDE THAT INFORMATION TO PAUL MORGAN, OUR ARCHITECT. HE WILL USE THAT TO DRAFT THE SCHEME FOR THE RENOVATION.

VESTRY CHANGES
The Vestry has worked very hard to insure transparency at St. Peter's and will be making some changes at the end of this year. All Vestry members will serve out their elected terms but the wardens, clerk, and treasurer will tender courtesy resignations so the Vestry can begin with a clean slate. Those tendering courtesy resignations will continue to service on the Vestry. There will be no incumbents, thereby allowing Fr. Allport to appoint his senior warden, the church members to elect the junior warden, and the Vestry to select the clerk and treasurer. In conjunction with an audit requirement, a "risk assessment" was done; it set forth recommended strategies to minimize and eliminate risks, one of which is to limit the term of the treasurer. We hope this will encourage more of you to join us; the nomination committee will be seeking those interested and willing to serve in the Vestry.
