A few words from Moani as she prepares for her year with us...Aloha St Peter’s Ohana!
Some of you may know me...most of you probably don’t. I will be following in the footsteps of Erika and taking my place within the St Peter’s community on September 1st as a part-time year-long intern under the direction of Father Bill. My name is Moani Miller and I previously have spent the last 2 years as the Director of Youth and Family Ministries at St Nicholas Church in Kapolei.
As St. Nicholas is a church plant, just getting underway, still feeling out a sense of community, finding a fluidity in leadership, and determining which direction God is calling them to, my transition to St Peters, as a well-established church with a developed community and long-standing devotion to God’s calling, will contrast my experience at St Nicks and hopefully allow me to gain a well-rounded perspective on the dynamics of the Episcopal Church. My intent in this internship is to discern where God is calling me to serve within ministry and how I can best give of myself in that calling. I will also be attending Honolulu Community College over the next year, in the hopes of pursuing a degree in Theology, and perhaps thereafter undertake to fit the title of “seminary student”.
I am absolutely looking forward to this opportunity of learning and growing, under the leadership of Father Bill, and along side the lives of all who make St Peters into the church that it is. Look for me when I begin (I’m not hard to miss!) and introduce yourself…I truly look forward to meeting you.
